    Green Rhino Launches EnviroPad 5.0

This significant upgrade to our award-winning spill pad bolsters its eco-friendly credentials. As well as full compatibility with HVO and other bio alternatives, EnviroPad now lasts even longer than before.

The Green Rhino EnviroPad®, named Best Product Innovation 2024 by Construction News, has received a major performance upgrade to further help the industry meet its environmental aims. Generation 5.0 of the innovative spill mat, which uses smart polymer technology to neutralise oil and fuel spills, is now compatible with a range of bio alternatives to traditional fuels and lubricants. In addition, capacity has been increased up to 80% across the range to reduce waste.

These upgrades reflect a driving force in construction: minimising the impact of activities on the environment.

More attention is being paid to a reduction in fossil fuel use. While electric construction equipment evolves to deliver the performance required, companies are looking at biofuels like HVO to reduce their carbon emissions. These bio alternatives are still considered pollutants by the Environment Agency and require exactly the same spill control approach. EnviroPad’s smart polymer technology has been upgraded to work equally well with HVO and other bio fluids.

The increases in the capacity of pollutants that can be absorbed and permanently retained, from 30% to 80% across the range, means that EnviroPad will last significantly longer than before, reducing product turnover and waste.

EnviroPad’s oil-solidifying technology already reduces the volume of waste generated by more traditional approaches to spill containment. It not only absorbs hazardous liquids like oils and fuels but transforms them into a non-hazardous solid, locking the pollutants inside the pad. Other methods, which simply contain polluting liquids, may also collect rainwater creating volumes of contaminated water which needs to be disposed of.

Ross Atkin, Managing Director of Green Rhino:

“In response to industry demand, particularly regarding the growing use of biofuels, EnviroPad 5.0 reflects our commitment to staying ahead of market trends and delivering solutions that address the specific needs of our clients. Our focus on accommodating bio-based alternatives reinforces Green Rhino’s leadership in innovative, eco-friendly spill control technology.

    He continued,

“We know the industry shares our ambition to make construction sites cleaner, and we’re delighted to be seen as a partner that leading contractors want to work with.”
