How it works?
DUAL-ACTION PROTECTION: OIL CAPTURE & SEDIMENT FILTRATION
The DropFit Oil & Sediment Gully Filter operates on a two-stage pollution control principle, built into a single, integrated unit.
Stage 1: Oil Capture: An oil-absorbent pad, is attached directly to the gully filter and floats on the surface of the water. As surface water runoff enters the gully, the hydrophobic pad actively draws in and retains oil, fuel, diesel, and other hydrocarbon-based pollutants, preventing them from entering the drainage network. The hydrocarbon solidifies in the pad to prevent leakage.
Stage 2: Sediment Filtration: Beneath the oil-absorbent layer, the DropFit filter media itself provides advanced 100-micron filtration, trapping fine particulates, silt, and sediment before water passes through. The filter moulds naturally to the 450 mm gully walls, creating a reliable seal with no gaps or bypass.
Together, these two mechanisms ensure that neither solid nor liquid pollutants reach the downstream drainage system, providing a level of protection that a sediment-only filter cannot match.
Performance
Engineered for demanding construction sites and civil engineering environments, the DropFit Oil & Sediment Gully Filter is built to handle high flow without compromising filtration. Our patent-pending system uses mechanics that naturally mould to gully walls, creating seals that prevent unfiltered bypass. With a sediment capacity of 70 kg, oil absorbent capacity of 1L and a flow rate of 2.5 litres per second, the filter handles sustained site water runoff events while maintaining consistent pollutant capture across both the oil pad and the filtration media.
- Patent-pending moulding system seals against gully walls (450 mm)
- 100-micron sediment filtration captures fine silt and particulates
- The oil absorbent pad floats on surface to intercept fuel, oils, and hydrocarbons
- 70 kg sediment capacity for extended service life between emptying
- 5 litres per second flow rate prevents ponding and flooding
- Dual-action protection in a single, integrated unit
Sustainable Operation
Built to last and designed for reuse, the DropFit Oil & Sediment Gully Filter reduces both environmental impact and lifecycle costs. Tear-resistant materials ensure the filtration media can be removed, emptied, and redeployed without damage, reducing waste and procurement frequency. The oil absorbent pad is also a replaceable insert, so when oil absorption capacity is reached, only the pad needs replacing, not the entire unit.
- Tear-resistant filtration media construction for repeated use
- Replaceable oil-absorbent pad when saturated
- Tear-resistant filtration media is reusable: empty and reuse
- Reduces procurement cycle and total cost of ownership
- Reusable design minimises site waste and environmental footprint
- Quick, tool-free installation reduces setup time and labour cost
Safe Handling
Removing a saturated gully filter safely is just as important as installation. DropFit’s Oil & Sediment Gully Filter is engineered with rapid-drain material that allows water to escape quickly before lifting, reducing the weight burden and the risk of spillage or bag failure.
- Rapid-drain material minimises water retention before removal
- Extended handles allow safer two-person lifting
- Reinforced construction prevents bag splits and re-pollution during extraction
- Clear capacity marker enables proactive maintenance to encourage change before full
- Integrated design keeps captured oil contained until safe disposal
Site Compliance & Environmental Protection
Construction sites operating near watercourses or in sensitive drainage catchments face strict requirements around both sediment and hydrocarbon runoff. Using a combined oil and sediment solution demonstrates a proactive pollution prevention approach.
- Supports compliance with construction site environmental regulations
- Addresses sediment and hydrocarbon runoff simultaneously
- Demonstrates active pollution prevention at drainage point
- Simplifies site audits with a single, integrated filtration product
Ideal Applications
The DropFit Oil & Sediment Gully Filter is the recommended choice wherever fuel, machinery, or vehicles are operating near drainage infrastructure:
- Construction sites with plant machinery, fuel bowsers, or vehicles
- Road and highway work where runoff may carry road oils or diesel
- Industrial yards, depots, and fuel storage areas
- Car parks and service areas
- Any site within or adjacent to a watercourse catchment
For sites where oil pollution is not a risk, the DropFit sediment only gully filter remains available.
